Whole house air purifiers work differently depending on the type of air filter used. The different types include:

  • Media Air Purifiers – More reasonable in price, these filters are installed in the return-air ductwork and remove more than 99.9% of pollutants and allergens from the air. Because they filter pollutants when the blower fan is running, however, during months when you do not turn on the system the air quality could drop.
  • Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO) Purifiers – A type of electronic media air purifiers, PCO filters are coated with titanium dioxide. A UV light is shone on the catalytic filter, creating a reaction that destroys the pollutants and purifies the air.
  • Electronic Air Cleaners (EACs) – These filters charge tiny particles in the air with electricity, which then attracts them to collector plates that have an opposite charge, effectively removing dust, pollutants, and odor from the air.

Accurate, timely fix

Review of DiBiase Heating and Cooling Company

Luis did a good job noticing a problem and applying a quick fix. I know that companies need to make a profit, but 6 times the cost of parts (found on the Internet) is extremely high, especially since the replacement/fix took about 30 minutes.

Service call that there was water leaking around the Furnace in the basement. Upon arrival, spoke with homeowner about issue. Found AC system running and cooling but water was collecting around the furnace. Removed Cleanout fitting from Condensation Drain Trap and found trap was clogged solid and was backing up in the drain pan coil and overflowing. Blew out condensation line several times and poured water through the drain pipe to ensure it was draining into the sump pump. Installed Pan Treatment tablets into the drain pan of the Coil to help breakdown any buildup in the drain pan and piping. Checked 16x25x1 Air Filter and replaced due to filter being partially wet. Would recommend installing an EZ Trap onto the drain line. This has a float switch and gets wired into the system. If the trap becomes clogged it will trip the Float switch and shut the system down to prevent the water from overflowing.

They were 245/69 with 9 degrees of subcooling. System is working fine but would recommend to start thinking about replacement due to age of system.
