Sump Pump Installation & Repair in Chester County

Sump pumps and battery backups, sized to the water your basement actually takes.

Sump Pumps and Battery Backup Systems

A sump pump only matters on the day it runs, and that is usually the day the power is out. DiBiase Heating and Cooling Company installs, replaces and services sump pumps and battery backup systems across Chester and Delaware County.

Signs Your Pump Is Not Going to Save You

It runs constantly, or not at all

A pump that cycles every minute in ordinary weather is either undersized for the water coming in or has a float that is hanging up. A pump that never runs during heavy rain is worse news: the float may be stuck, the check valve may have failed, or the discharge line may be blocked or frozen at the exit.

It hums but does not move water

A humming motor with no flow usually means a jammed or broken impeller. Debris that falls into an uncovered pit is the common cause.

The pit smells, or the pump is visibly rusted

Standing water in a pit that never fully clears indicates a check valve leaking back, which makes the pump work several times harder than it needs to and shortens its life.

There is no backup at all

This is the most common problem we find, and it is not a fault so much as a gap. A mains-powered pump is useless in a storm outage, which is exactly when groundwater peaks. A battery backup runs the pit when the power is gone.

Sizing, Not Guessing

We look at how much water the pit actually takes during a wet spell, the vertical lift to the discharge point, and the length and route of the discharge line. Those three numbers decide the pump, and they vary enormously between houses on the same street. A pump chosen without them is a guess.

We also check where the discharge terminates. A line that dumps next to the foundation returns the same water to the same pit, which is a surprisingly common reason a perfectly good pump seems to run forever.

What It Costs

You get a flat-rate price to approve before any work starts. If a system turns out to need more than the quote covers once it is opened up, we stop and re-quote.

Scheduling

Plumbing visits are scheduled during normal service hours; our 24/7 emergency line covers HVAC. If your basement is taking water now, say so when you call and we will get you the earliest slot available.

Homes on private wells often have both a well pump and a sump pump, and the two are sometimes confused with each other when pressure or noise problems start.
