Reviewed unit and performed gas pressure, static pressure, temp rise, combustion testing. Adjusted fan settings and replaced limit. Limit appears to be too low of a setting. Tried to call manufacturer for support. Need to connect with manufacturer.
Luis 12-13-25 return visit to troubleshoot unit, gas heater keeps going off on high limit. Check system operation check airflow and static pressure good temperature rise at current airflow. I inspect limit is rated 130 F degrees. I check Tempe at limit location during entire inspection maximum Tempe register 115 F. I did noticed metal around limit area (very close to exhaust collector box) gets over 140 F degrees. I used finer glass gasket to try to keep heat away from limit metal base. I monitor temperature on limit location and did not rise higher than 115F. Performed combustion test ok temperature rise 45 and 50F. Cycle heater ok. I will follow up with manager about this call. We might have to order new limit (maybe due to the heat got out of calibration).
I arrived to the customers home for heater not working correctly. Thermostat was set to 73 and indoor temp was 66 found unit was locked out EE3 it was locked out in first stage heat. First stage heat was set to F04. I went into the programming and set first stage for F01 tested my static pressure in stage one heat. first stage static .53” @ 989 cfm, 44° temp rise . When 2nd stage came in I have set to F02 tested my static .84 @ 1195 cfm 51° temp rise . The system is running fine at this time . I let the customer know that she needs to replace her filter monthly. No charge warranty new system .
Fully assessed 80,000 btu Goodman gas furnace not reaching temp. Found gas furnace locked out on ee3 code when I arrived which is open high limit. Checked temperature rise across furnace and found it to be 43 degree temp rise on first stage and 54 degrees on high stage. Found that by the high limit switch it was around 200 degrees. Increased fan speed from fo1 which was 501 cfm to f04 which is 1081 cfm. Also changed 2nd stage heating to f02 which is 1328. Temperature rise got better. Gas furnace is working at time of service.
I arrived to the customers home to service their 1 yr old gas furnace system and Bosch heat pump dual fuel . I started with checking the air filter and replaced , the filter size is 16x20x4 supplied by the customer, and the humidifier. I checked all my electrical connections and voltages. I inspected and tested the burners , flame sensor and the igniter. I water tested all tubing and hoses. I inspected the exhaust and fresh air pipe for restrictions and bellies. I inspected the inducer and the blower motor operation. I checked and tested for combustion and took temp rise splits at the return and the supply. Everything is running fine at this time of service. Tested the system operation on a Bosch heat pump and took temp splits .
No heat. Unit was not running but there was a demand for heat. No active error codes. The most recent error code in history was open high limit. Reset power to system. Ran system and checked fan speed, filter and static pressure as well as temperature rise in st and 2nd stage heating 1St stage gas heat fan speed F01 static pressure .55” Good for 989 cfm Supply temperature 120°Good. 2nd Stage Gas heat fan speed F05 TESP .75” 1413 CFM Good. Ran unit for almost my entire duration of my time here. Highest supply temp was 128° Unit ran without interruption or error codes. If the issue that caused the open high limit error code to was still an issue it would have shown itself during my testing today. This may have been a nuisance issue, there were storms last night could have been a power related issue.
The nameplate has been changed from American standard to trane. The new filter was installed in the cabinet. All DIP switch settings and furnace was tested system quality assurance is complete with no issues.
10/27/25 Tan Performed QA inspection on gas furnace installed by us on 10/21/25. Client is mostly happy with install however he questioned why it ran for 30 minutes to go from 72° to 74°. I found airflow settings for 2nd stage was set too high and the temp rise matched the 1st stage. I set it from F05 to F02 per recommended settings. Also set AC airflow from F08 (1554cfm @ .5” wc) to F04 (1401cfm @ .5” wc) for 3.5 ton system. Tested temp splits, combustion, and amp draw. Combustion was good so no need to adjust gas pressures. Flue pipe had to be installed away from pvc piping to prevent melting but otherwise ok. Ductwork is sealed well and wiring is tight and secure. System is operational QA is a PASS
Set new furnace under existing coil. Built custom transition from furnace to coil. Adapted existing gas line to unit and leak checked. Remade all high and low voltage connections to unit required all safeties. Adapted smoke pipe to new unit. Performed all test put procedures cleaned all work areas and reviewed installation with ho.eowner.
Was really great and had no issues.
