Customer called in for no heat, oil boiler. System, has four zones. Three zones are working. Number two, which is kitchen, dining room, living room entertainment area. I tested valve ok. Both sides of valve are hot, I noticed no water is flowing back to boiler from that zone. all other zones have plenty of water coming back. Could be restriction or frozen pipe. Customer will need to contact plumber for this issue. I also purger is leaking I added cap for now this should also be fix.

I arrived to the customers home to look at his Bosch heat pump system. The system is 3 years old, and it’s a second homeowner from this was installed. I found that I had the same lockout code on the outdoor unit H5. I did reset the unit and go through my testing process to see what is going on with the heat pump system. I started up in the attic to be sure. The air filter was OK. Air filter size is 20 x 22 x1. My Gauges I have 55 psi and 265psi. Board - 72psi / 14 psi I ran a test on my transducer and it failed I have 5 dc volts which it needs but my pressure ratio needs to be 0- 4.0 I have 222.6 . Transducer is failed. No charge for today recall . Management will reach out to the customer to see if there is any kind of warranty on the part and the pricing and availability on the transducer.

I arrived to the customers home that the furnace isn’t running. Found the gas Weil McLain boiler not heating. I have a call from the thermostat and the circulator is running, found the pilot light was out the thermocouple isn’t holding the flame. I quoted for new thermocouple , and talked to the customer and had told him that it could also be the gas valve not holding the flame. He went ahead and approved the thermocouple repair. I replaced the thermocouple and it held the flame. I tested for combustion and it passed. I Did highly recommend to the customer that the boiler should be replaced in the near future . It’s 28 yrs old . I collected for diagnostic and repair for $483.18 paid by cc.

I did leave an estimate for a boiler contract for the customers to review.

Found outdoor unit locked out on H5 error code.
5 low pressure lockouts in 100 min.
I enabled the extended defrost dipswitches at outdoor unit, this will allow defrost to run 60 seconds longer to help with returning outdoor coil to a state where it can act as heat pump
Checked filter. It is clean. The correct size filter for this air handler is a 20x22x1. He has been using the 20x20x1.
Afterwards tested system.
Had probes on refrigerant ports.
Lowest the suction pressure got was 54 psi. Not low enough for a low pressure incident.
Temperature rise after 15 mi. Was 70-105 or 35° Good
There is no supplemental electric heat kit in air handler so during defrost they will feel cold air from supply ducts/vents.

There is some snow inside outdoor unit. We poured hot water on sections of piping at outdoor unit that were covered in snow.

It is better to assess refrigerant charge on the cooling season.

System operating well at this time.

There is an oil boiler with (3) zones.

Homeowner’s carbon monoxide detector went off late last night.
He was using his wood fired fire place in living room.
I did an ambient carbon monoxide search throughout the house.
Also did ambient Carbon monoxide test in the ductwork of each system while running 0 ppm million,
Combustion analysis/test for each furnace: Pass
The only time where I had a brief blip of 1 ppm but it quickly zeroed out. was when I was within 5’ of wood burning fireplace.
Chances are the CO detector malfunctioned last night.

Also replaced the 20x25x5 filter at basement system. It is a MERV 16 filter so replace every 3 months.

His detectors are 12+ years old. I offered a low level carbon monoxide alarm. He is going to replace them.

We had service tech Kurt arrive for our yearly AC system check up. Kurt was on time, friendly and had a deep knowledge of HVAC systems. He ran a complete battery of tests on our old system, while never getting bothered by the homeowner standing there, asking questions. We are very happy with the level of service and care Kurt provided. Ask for him...you will be impressed! 10/2025, Fall heater service. Kurt returned, this time to check and prepare out heating system for the coming winter. I requested Kurt because I thought he would be just as thorough and knowledgeable with out heating as he had been with out AC....and he was. Everything I said above still applies. After completing the service call, I received an email with docs & photos of all the tests and their results. DiBiase has been reasonable with their pricing, delivered on their service, and honesty....no pressure or up-selling for work thats not needed. Thanks DiBiase!
