Luis 1-27-26 customer called in for issues with heater/thermostat. He replaced thermostat and unit was running non stop. I checked setting and wiring, found thermostat not set up for conventional, set thermostat to conventional and test operation, performed combustion test. I noticed heat exchanger is showing major wear and tear, inducer makes some noise from bearings, igniter tip is showing major wear. Heater is currently working, i would highly recommend getting and estimate to replace system. I did provided estimate for more critical parts. Office to follow up with customer.
Found wet switch tripped from very small water leak from test hole on vent pipe. Performed combustion test and sealed up with high temp silicone. Also performed quality assurance while on site. Checked over venting and electrical, checked gas pressures. Checked penetrations and outdoor unit as much as possible. Gas furnace is working at time of service.
Performed precision heat tune up on 2022 Goodman gas furnace. Replaced 16x25x1 air filter. Checked gas pressure. Checked temperature rise. Cleaned flame sensor. Checked resistance of hsi. Blew out all tubing. Found no water protection or surge protection on system, provided estimates. Inspected burners. Performed combustion test. Gas furnace is working properly at time of service.
I arrived for QA on a heat pump system. Customer had mentioned that the humidifier is not working and he had told the guys to hook it up through his thermostat. I went through QA check the system out wire in humidifier for customer is now working through the thermostat everything is up and running and running fine.
Luis 1-26-26 customer called for blank thermostat found ez trap float open, trap was clear no issues with drain. Reset float and test operation ok. Waited for system to reboot and test operation ok heat pump is working properly at time of service, I check supply and return air temps I did not check outside unit, would recommend getting tune up done so wen can go over system, making sure everything is within manufacture specifications. Customer should be changing filter very soon to prevent any issues.
Found package heat pump with low pressure switch stuck open, I bypassed and tested with probes on refrigerant ports. System was running at 13 psi low side (17° outdoor temperature) very low. We decided best plan of action is to wire the full capacity 10KW electric heat and use AUX heat only until we can come back on a more reasonable temperature day to assess the refrigerant charge issue. The low pressure switch being open will prevent the compressor from running. I told Ray the tenant to keep mode at AUX. Do not set mode to HEAT, Temp rise with 10KW electric heat is 55-80=25° Amp draw 40A Unit operating with electric heat only until we can assess heat pump refrigerant issues on warmer day.
Performed precision heat tune up on 2019 hybrid amana system. Replaced 20x25x1 air filter. Checked all electrical connections and components. Checked temperature rise. Cleaned flame sensor. Found burners rusted and corroded. Provided estimate to install stainless steel burners. Also found no surge protection on blower motor, provided estimate. Cleaned flame sensor. Performed combustion test. Gas furnace is working properly at time of service.
Estimate
Fully assessed no heating situation. Found compressor running and both fan motors running when I arrived. R-32 refrigerant pressures on 2025 Goodman package unit were 226/57, very good. Home temperature inside was only 54 degrees. Took open panels on system and found 50 amp breaker for strip heater was tripped, checked over all wiring and connections, all looked ok. Reset breaker and tested 5 kw it was 21 amps. Supply temp with kit and compressor running was 91 degrees. Temperature went from 54 degrees to 57 degrees while I was on site. Set thermostat to 65 degrees and told tenets to try to keep it at one set temperature. At this point do not know why breaker had tripped. Goodman package heat pump is working properly at time of service.
No heat. System installed Nov. 2019 by Dibiase for a different homeowner. 16x20x1 air filter was very dirty causing airflow restriction and high plenum temperatures. My temperature in plenum was 119° even with half capacity heat kit because of restricted airflow. Replace filter monthly. Replaced 16x20x1 filter. Found failed secondary limit switch at 10KW electric heat kit causing loss of 20A or 5KW electric heat, Offered to replace failed secondary limit switch. Replaced and tested system afterwards. Heat kit now 40A. Temp rise now 61/118 with full airflow measured at plenum. I told her it will take up to 4 hours or so to get house back up to 68° System operating well at this time.
