Homeowner had concerns about “smelling like hot curling iron” in ductwork and a loud hum from equipment. Ac and Oil furnace is 13-15 years old. Equipment is low boy oil funace with riello F3 burner. Has not been serviced in quite some time. 5 years+ Found weak blower 7.5uF capacitor (reading 6.6) Heat fan speed set to MED LO. Attempted to take out blower motor to take photo of label but this would be very labor intensive. We will research and provide quote to replace blower motor. The hum he showed me a video of did not occur while I was here. It may have been related to the weak capacitor. Offered to replace capacitor he agreed. Replaced capacitor today. Lots of debris in flue pipe. Cleaned out. Chimney does have a liner. Also reoriented flue temperature limit switch and added a strap to the 5” flue pipe. There is a very rusted elbow in the 5” flue pipe. Caulked gap fo now and provided estimate to replace. The heat exchanger itself has very little soot. Combustion analysis and
I arrived for no heat. Customer has thermostat set at 66 It was 62 in the house . I found the blower motor was running, but no heat. I reset the unit and tested system sequence of operation. The inducer came on and the igniter, but the gas valve didn’t open. I checked my wire leads at the gas valve and i have 25 volts . I noticed the connections weren’t great at the valve . When putting my wire connections back into the valve I had a nice tight connection . I turned the system back on again and watched the sequence of operation and the gas valve opened and lit the burners. It’s still a possibility it could be a weak gas valve, but my connections at the valve were an issue at this time. Tested system multiple times to be sure the gas valve opened. Collected for diagnostic for tonight we are over a month ago for maintenance
Luis 2-10-26 customer called in for no heat, Goodman 90% heater from 2020. Tune up was done few months ago by other local company. Found heater running and both thermostats satisfied. Customer states that heater stopped on Saturday, they reset power and unit came on. I check error codes, high limit was stored on board. I check airflow static pressure and filter. Airflow is at the correct setting. Temperature rise is 60 degrees. Performed combustion test ok. I noticed high exhaust temp. Heater stayed running the whole time during troubleshooting. I would recommend using other type of filters. I would also recommend cleaning blower wheel and secondary heat exchanger. After those repairs if the system still overheating, we will need to find a way on how to modify ductwork. Email estimate for recommendations.
I Arrived to the customers home for a Q.A INSPECTION on a Goodman heat pump system. I checked all my electrical connections and voltages . I made sure all wiring and connections were completed in a neatly manner. I checked the air filter and replaced if needed filter size is 16x20x1 . I made sure the system had all the proper accessories tied into the equipment. I Inspected the indoor coil and tested electric heat package. I looked at the outdoor heat pump and checked my wiring and checked the level of the disconnect and the heat pump. Inspected the outdoor components and unit pressures. Everything is in good working order.
Great service but bad news. My hot water pipe is frozen
Issue was that she had no flow at all to the hot water faucets/taps. Line that feeds Navien tankless water heater is frozen. There is no flow at all through the heat exchanger. Advised homeowner to contact the builder to address this. Will have to wait until pipe that feds water heater thaws. Not something I can address. Showed her where the manifold block is. There is also an access to the attic crawl upstairs in mechanical room. Showed her where this is.
Luis 2-8-26 customer called in for no heat, heater intermittently cutting off found thermostat calling for heat heater system showing error code high temperature issue. Found filter dirty. Replaced customer supplied air filter. And test operation ok check supply and return air temps ok 55 degree split. Would recommend replacing filter every 30 days. Heater was running the entire 45 minute troubleshooting.
Performed quality assurance on recently installed high efficiency Goodman gas furnace and a/c. Customer pointed out that there were pipe hangers left hanging on the ductwork and duct work was not properly sealed. Removed old hangers and sealed joints with silicone supply and return. Also customer pointed out there was a black spot on the concrete in basement left by installers. Cleaned up. Checked over install. Performed combustion test. Gas furnace is working properly at time of service.
Luis 2-6-26 customer called because she thinks something is wrong with humidifier, there is a light saying humidifier service needed. We installed humidifier before heating season, and light came on to replace pad. No need to replace pad at this time. I showed her how to reset controller if lights comes on again. No charge warranty. We will need to reset controller every time we service humidifier. Humidifier is keeping house at 40% humidity.

Luis 1-27-26 customer called in for issues with heater/thermostat. He replaced thermostat and unit was running non stop. I checked setting and wiring, found thermostat not set up for conventional, set thermostat to conventional and test operation, performed combustion test. I noticed heat exchanger is showing major wear and tear, inducer makes some noise from bearings, igniter tip is showing major wear. Heater is currently working, i would highly recommend getting and estimate to replace system. I did provided estimate for more critical parts. Office to follow up with customer.
